Meet Shahroze Ahmed, MBBS – DICO Atlas of Radiology Ambassador

We’re excited to welcome Shahroze Ahmed, a third-year Radiology Resident at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Lahore, Pakistan, to the DICO Atlas of Radiology Ambassador community.

Shahroze’s work sits at an interesting intersection of radiology, education, oncologic imaging, and emerging technology.

Training at one of Pakistan’s leading cancer care institutions has given him extensive exposure to complex oncologic imaging and multidisciplinary patient care. His clinical interests include oncologic imaging, MRI, and interventional radiology, while his academic interests increasingly focus on how digital tools and artificial intelligence can become part of everyday radiology practice.

Education is another important part of Shahroze’s work. He has been involved in teaching medical students through AMSER DIRT and radiology trainees through Revise Radiology, with a particular interest in making complex imaging concepts more accessible through structured and practical learning.

Alongside clinical training, Shahroze is involved in research exploring the role of AI and large language models in radiology, including report auditing, structured information extraction, clinical decision support, and educational feedback for trainees.

We also asked Shahroze what he believes is one of the biggest challenges facing radiology today.

“The greatest opportunity lies in developing tools that genuinely augment radiologists – reducing repetitive tasks, improving consistency, supporting decision-making, and allowing radiologists to focus more on the aspects of their work that require clinical reasoning and expertise.”

And we particularly liked his view of what this means for the future:

“The future of radiology is therefore not radiologists versus technology, but radiologists empowered by technology.”

This perspective closely reflects why we created the DICO Atlas Ambassador Program – to bring together radiologists and educators who are interested not only in the current state of radiology, but also in how technology can make education, clinical work, and access to expertise more effective.

As an Ambassador, Shahroze will be exploring DICO Atlas of Radiology from the perspective of a radiology trainee, sharing his feedback, and helping us understand how the platform can become more useful for the next generation of radiologists.

We’re very happy to have Shahroze as part of the community and look forward to learning from his experience.

Welcome to Atlas of Radiology, Shahroze!
